Seven warships of the Romanian, US, Turkish and Ukrainian navies conducted military exercises in international waters off the Romanian coast of the Black Sea, Report informs, citing foreign media quoting the press service of the Romanian Defense Ministry.
The Romanian frigate Mărășești, the American Destroyer Porter, the headquarters ship USS Mount Whitney and the tanker John Lenthall, the Turkish frigate Yavuz, as well as the Ukrainian landing ship Yuri Olefirenko and the patrol boat Sloviansk, were involved in the military maneuvers.
The aim of the military exercise, according to the Romanian military department, is "to strengthen NATO's response capacity in the Black Sea by applying the alliance's standard procedures in crisis situations and to increase the level of interaction between the navies of the participating countries".
After the completion of the maneuvers, the American warships will be in the port of Constanta on November 12-14, where the commander of the US 6th Fleet, Vice Admiral Eugene Black, is scheduled to meet with Romanian military officials, the Defense Ministry noted.
