US President Donald Trump is set to close the military base in Alexandroupolis, Greece, which has been used for transporting weapons and military equipment to Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
According to Report, citing international media, the US government has ordered an urgent review of the base’s necessity and continued operation.
The potential closure of the base raises concerns about the secure deployment of US troops to Ukraine, who are expected to play a role in ensuring security and peacekeeping between Ukraine and Russia following a potential US-Russia peace agreement. Reports suggest that Russia has proposed airlifting American forces responsible for maintaining security in the region.
