The Japanese Ministry of Defense intends to begin practical testing of unmanned ground combat vehicles designed to defend remote islands in the East China Sea, which stretch almost to Taiwan.
Report informs via TASS that the development of such devices will begin in fiscal year 2023 that ends March 31, 2024.
Robotic combat vehicles will be designed mostly to combat air targets, primarily drones. They must move independently, including over rough terrain, and select the most important and suitable targets for destruction, using the capabilities of artificial intelligence.
