Texas authorities have redoubled efforts to strengthen the border with Mexico to prevent the entry of illegal migrants from that country, Report informs, citing Governor Greg Abbott.
"More National Guard & razor wire barriers are coming to the Texas border. We’ re-doubling our efforts to expand the areas where we are denying illegal entry into Texas," he said on the social network X.
Abbott noted that the rate of illegal immigration in Texas "is now going down in Texas" while increasing in California and Arizona.
Earlier, the US Supreme Court decided to remove a 30-mile (about 48 km) wire fence on the US-Mexico border in Texas, installed as part of Abbott's fight against the influx of migrants. The court's ruling allows the Border Patrol to cut wire along the border during the trial.
The Texas National Guard has blocked federal border patrol agents from entering a roughly 4-kilometer (4 km) section of the border with Mexico along the Rio Grande River. State authorities have repeatedly stated that the US administration does not properly guard the border, which has led to an increase in illegal migrants. Texas began sending them on buses to major American cities, including Washington, New York and Chicago.
