Swedish court hands down first verdict on extremist charges for burning Koran

The Swedish Linköping Court of First Instance has sentenced a man who set fire to Koran, recorded it on video and distributed it on the Internet. This was the first sentence in Sweden for such an action under the article of inciting ethnic and religious hatred, reads the court’s statement, Report informs referring to foreign media.
"A man, against whom a criminal case was opened for inciting ethnic and religious hatred because in the fall of 2020 he distributed a video with music, in which, among other things, the Koran was burned and left near a mosque, today was convicted of a crime," the court said in a press release.
He received a suspended sentence and was ordered to pay 800 kroner (about $73) to the Crime Victim Fund.
