All students and teachers of the lyceum in the commune of Arras, where a literature teacher was killed last week, were evacuated immediately after the start of classes due to a bomb threat, Report informs via TASS.
A law enforcement source said that the evacuation was carried out after an anonymous notification about a bomb planted in the school. Currently, the lyceum is cordoned off, and sappers have been called to the site.
A danger level of "terrorist threat" has now been introduced in France. By order of French President Emmanuel Macron, 7,000 military personnel will be deployed to maintain order on the streets of the country's cities, which is twice as many as usual. In addition, Education Minister Gabriel Attal announced increased security measures in the area of educational institutions and said that about 1,000 employees responsible for incident prevention and security would be sent to schools. In some departments, police and gendarmerie officers will be on duty near schools.
Such measures were taken after the murder of literature teacher Dominique Bernard at a school in the Arras commune in the north of the country, which was committed by a 20-year-old native of Ingushetia (Russian Federation). Until recently, he was under the supervision of the Main Directorate of Internal Security. After the attack with a knife, a school security guard was also hospitalized in serious condition, and another teacher was in moderate condition. To date, 11 people have been detained in connection with the attack.
