Sri Lanka suspends payments on external liabilities

The Ministry of Finance of Sri Lanka announced the suspension of payments on all external obligations of the country, according to the ministry's decree, Report informs, citing TASS.
"The policy of the ministry will be to freeze payments on all [external] debt for a certain period of time in order to properly restructure these obligations in accordance with the IMF-supported program of economic transformation," the document says.
