Saab has signed a contract with BAE Systems to supply Giraffe 4A radar systems to the US Air Force in Europe.
Report informs, citing TASS and The Defense Post, that the $48 million deal will help strengthen "air defense of airbases for US forces deployed in the European theater."
The radar system provides long-range 3D surveillance with 360-degree coverage, a range of 300 kilometers, and the ability to simultaneously track hundreds of aerial targets, including drones, missiles, and high-speed aircraft.
According to Saab's US Director Erik Smith, Giraffe 4A is a multi-function radar that provides users with a range of surveillance capabilities in support of integrated air defense.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027.
