The complete withdrawal of the Baltic countries from the unified energy system of Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (BRELL) will affect the cost of electricity there, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko said at the Primakov Readings forum, Report informs.
“Today, the three Baltic countries announced a complete withdrawal from the BRELL system, which connected the energy systems of the Baltic countries with the Soviet system. Even now, electricity prices are determined on the Swedish stock exchange, and not by concluding lucrative long-term contracts and supplying electricity from Russia,” he noted.
