Russian leader speaks about war between USA and Iran

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the decision of US President Donald Trump to suspend hostilities the right one and expressed hope for achieving peace in the region.

Report informs via TASS that speaking at the plenary session of the St.Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin also noted that Moscow is "in contact with both Washington and Tehran and Tel Aviv," including on the situation with the Bushehr NPP. "Everyone assures us that there were accidental shell impacts near the station. Everyone assures us that this is a coincidence, and that it will not happen again," he said. "I have no grounds to believe that we are being misled," Putin emphasized.

The head of state promised that Russia will continue work on the construction of nuclear facilities in the republic when the situation calms down. "But here as well, the removal of Iran"s concerns that they are being restricted in conducting peaceful nuclear projects could also play a certain role," he noted.

Speaking about the causes of the conflict, Putin stated that he does not see provocations from Iran in the conflict with the US. "It seems to me that at one time we agreed, adopted the relevant agreement on the Iranian nuclear program, and everything was under the control of the IAEA. But unfortunately, the situation later developed differently, in another direction," he said.

The Russian leader noted that Moscow has no data that Tehran seeks to create nuclear weapons: "Israel's concerns are well known; they are linked to their belief that Iran is seeking to create nuclear weapons." According to the president, Iran has repeatedly stated both in the past and currently that it has no plans to obtain such weapons.
