The Armed Forces of Ukraine need at least 50 effective multiple launch rocket systems - such as the American HIMARS, as soon as possible, said Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Report informs via UNIAN.
Yermak made the remark commenting on the US decision to provide Ukraine with additional military assistance worth $270 million.
“President Volodymyr Zelensky, in our conversations, sets the task of obtaining even more heavy weapons. And in dialogue with allies, we regularly explain our needs. We understand that we need at least 50 effective MLRS like HIMARS and we need them as soon as possible. We are doing everything to get closer to this figure,” Yermak noted.
According to him, the Ukrainian army needs hundreds of M777 howitzers and aviation. “Our pilots will be trained and master Western fighters,” he added.
The United States has already delivered 12 HIMARS systems to Ukraine and this week announced its intention to transfer four more such systems, and in general, the United States and allies have so far promised to give more than 20 such systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
