Portugal will provide 220 million euros of assistance to Ukraine in 2025, Prime Minister Luis Montenegro told reporters in Washington upon his arrival at the NATO summit, Report informs referring to TASS.

“According to our estimates, the volume of our support [to Ukraine] this year could reach more than 220 million euros, and we will allocate the same amount next year,” Montenegro said, as quoted by the Lusa agency.

The prime minister added that Portugal's efforts to support Ukraine could benefit some sectors in the country's military sphere. “The technological sector will have advantages. <...> We, for example, have very high competitiveness in the [production of] drones and unmanned vehicles. We also have textile production, <...> which the armed forces need,” he noted.

On May 28, Ukraine and Portugal signed a security agreement that provides for Lisbon's initial allocation of 126 million euros in military aid to Kyiv this year. Lisbon also confirmed participation in the international coalition of F-16 fighters, the maritime coalition, as well as in programs for the purchase of large-caliber ammunition for Kyiv and efforts to clear mines from Ukrainian territory. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the agreement is designed for 10 years.
