The death toll in New Caledonia, where protests have continued for 13 days, has reached seven people, Report informs via BFMTV.
A 48-year-old man was shot dead by police, the TV channel reported, citing the prosecutor's office in the island's capital Noumea.
The prosecutor's office began an investigation into "intentional murder by a person in a position of public power." The officer was taken into custody.
