Pentagon: NATO not to be involved in Ukraine war

NATO will not be involved in military operations in Ukraine, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said at the Halifax Security Forum, Report informs via foreign media.
NATO is a defense alliance and does not aspire to conflict with Russia, Austin said, stressing that the alliance is not a threat to Russia.
Austin also emphasized that NATO will support the defense of Ukraine, even if it is not involved in military operations.
The US secretary added that they will continue to strengthen the defense of every inch of NATO territory.
According to the Defense Secretary, the situation in Ukraine is the biggest security crisis since the end of the Cold War.
The outcome of this war will be one of the determining factors in global security in the 21st century, he said.
