Pakistan reports first case of Omicron strain

Pakistan has reported the first case of the new COVID-19 variant Omicron, the Sindh Health Department confirmed Thursday.
Report informs, citing foreign media, that according to the provincial health authorities, a private hospital in Karachi reported the first case of the variant in a female patient with a travel history.
The health department disclosed that the patient had arrived in Pakistan from abroad, adding that efforts are underway to conduct contact tracing to confirm whether there are more infections or not.
