Argentina's new Economy Minister Luis Caputo announced that President Javier Miley's government is reducing the number of ministries from 18 to 9, Report informs via TASS.
“According to the law on ministries signed by the president, the number of ministries will be reduced from 18 to 9, and secretariats from 106 to 54. This will lead to a 50% reduction in senior civil servant positions and a 34% decrease in the total number of political positions,” the new minister said in an address presenting the government’s first economic reforms.
According to President Milei’s decree published earlier, only these ministries will remain in the republic: foreign affairs, economy, security, defense, human capital, justice, infrastructure, health, and internal affairs.
Previously, the Argentine government also had ministries of transport, public works, science, territorial and housing development, culture, environment, tourism, livestock and agriculture, and women's affairs.
