The Geilenkirchen Airbase, located in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia in western Germany, has been closed due to suspicions of possible sabotage.

According to Report, which cites TASS, the airbase has also seen its barracks shut down as a precautionary measure.

A representative from the territorial command confirmed that the barracks were closed and an investigation is underway to determine if the base's independent water supply has been contaminated.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the suspicions of sabotage have intensified following the closure of a Bundeswehr barracks in the Wahn district of Cologne, possibly due to statements made by a detained individual. However, the territorial command representative could not initially confirm this information. Security authorities are currently involved in the investigation.
