Moldova experiences blackout due to extreme weather

Forty settlements in Moldova remain partially without electricity due to unfavorable weather conditions, the country's General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (GIES) said, Report informs via Moldovan media.
According to the GIES, over the past 24 hours, the unified national service has processed over 6,000 calls. More than 1,900 calls were forwarded to the ambulance service, 628 to the police, and 145 to rescuers and firefighters.
Due to snowfall and blizzards, winter holidays for schoolchildren in more than 1,000 educational institutions in 24 regions of the country will be prolonged.
In Chisinau, Balti and other cities, the activities of government institutions have been suspended.
