Moldova CEC validates Maia Sandu's mandate as president

Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Moldova held a meeting on Saturday, and examined the centralization of the results of the runoff election on November 3, 2024. The CEC members signed a report confirming the victory of the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Maia Sandu, Report informs, citing Moldpres.

According to CEC head Angelica Caraman, "electoral candidate Maia Sandu, who picked up the highest number of votes in the runoff is declared elected."

Maia Sandu obtained 930,139 votes, while her counter-candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo - 750,430 votes. More than 20,000 ballots were declared invalid.

Out of more than 2.7 million voters registered on the basic electoral rolls, 1.7 million citizens turned out to vote.

The CEC decision is to be submitted to the Constitutional Court to confirm the election results and validate Maia Sandu's mandate as President.
