Mohammed Sinwar becomes new Hamas leader in Gaza Strip

Mohammed Sinwar, the head of the military wing of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas - the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades - has become the new leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, The Wall Street Journal wrote, Report informs via TASS.
Sinwar is the younger brother of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed in October 2024. The new head of the movement is making active efforts to revive the group, as its military capabilities were seriously undermined as a result of Israel's military operation in the Palestinian enclave since October 2023, WSJ's sources note.
In October 2024, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz confirmed that Hamas Political Bureau chief Yahya Sinwar was eliminated by Israeli soldiers.
