Kazakhstan is ready to negotiate with Washington on the issue of duties on imports to the US, Report informs referring to the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan.
According to the decision of US President Donald Trump, a single import duty rate of 25% will be established on Kazakh goods from August 1. Nevertheless, as the ministry emphasized, the vast majority of Kazakh products are not subject to the new restrictions. Strategically important goods for bilateral trade - oil, uranium, silver, ferroalloys, tantalum and titanium - will continue to be exported without changes.
According to preliminary estimates, about 95% of Kazakhstan's exports to the United States will not be affected by Washington's measures.
"In order to maintain stable trade conditions and access to the American market, the government of Kazakhstan sent specific proposals and initiatives to the White House Administration aimed at improving the conditions of mutual trade. Kazakhstan expects to achieve agreed solutions and is open to negotiations in the interests of a sustainable partnership," reads the message.
The ministry notes that the American side is currently considering Kazakhstan's proposals and will inform about the timing of the start of consultations. Kazakhstan, in turn, is preparing for the upcoming negotiations to protect national interests and strengthen trade and economic ties with the United States.
According to the ministry, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the United States in 2024 amounted to $4.2 billion, which is 4% more than in 2023. The basis of Kazakhstan's exports are crude oil ($1.1 billion), uranium ($322.9 million), silver ($239.9 million), ferroalloys ($188.2 million), tantalum and products made from it ($17.6 million). In January-May 2025, trade turnover reached $1.26 billion, of which $418.2 million came from exports from Kazakhstan.
