Media: US tariffs set Italy's growth to zero in 2025

The introduction of 30% tariffs by the United States from August 1 could lead to a cumulative reduction in Italy's GDP by 1.4%, which would effectively negate the country's expected economic growth of 0.6% this year and 0.8% in 2026, Il Sole 24 Ore said, citing the EY Parthenon Bulletin, Report informs.

According to the analytical data, the US tariffs could trigger losses of almost €30 billion between 2025 and 2026. With 20% tariffs, the economic damage would amount to about €20 billion, experts say.

The sectors that could suffer the most are those "most dependent on the US, such as pharmaceuticals, the agri-food sector and some mechanical engineering industries," commented Marco Daviddi, Managing Partner at EY.

Analysts rule out the possibility of tariffs being reduced below 20%, considering such a scenario unlikely.
