Kuwait's national carrier, Kuwait Airways, has increased its order for Airbus planes from 28 to 31, airline's CEO Maan Al-Razouki said in a statement.
Report informs, citing Reuters, that according to Al-Razouki, the order portfolio includes two new planes A350 900, seven A330-900 neo, four A330-800 neo, three A321 neo-LR, six A321 neo, and nine A320 neo. "All the planes will be delivered by the end of 2028," Al-Razouki said.
Asharq TV channel notes that the amount of the contract is about $6 billion. The airline has already paid 40% of the cost of the order, most of the remaining amount will be paid using credit funds. According to information on the Airbus website, the original order, under which Kuwait Airways planned to purchase 28 planes, included five A350-900s, eight A330-800 neos, and 15 A320 neos. The airline has already received two A330-800 neos and six A320 neos.
Kuwait Airways is aiming to expand its fleet with new planes capable of longer non-stop flights, which will allow the airline to increase its presence in North America, Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia, the agency notes.
