Approving Sweden's application for NATO membership is Türkiye’s sovereign decision, Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, said, Report’s Russian bureau informs.

"Türkiye is still a NATO member. This is an obvious fact. It has its own obligations, the negotiation process with its allies regarding this alliance. This is Türkiye’s sovereign decision," he said.

On January 23, the Türkiye approved Sweden’s NATO membership bid.
