The Israeli government will allocate $9 billion (31 billion shekels) to increase the state budget.
According to Report, citing The Times of Israel, $473 million (1.6 billion shekels) of this amount will be designated for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Most of the budget increase will go toward defense and will be accompanied by across-the-board cuts of 3.35% in ministerial budgets, with the exception of the Defense Ministry. The cuts will take effect at the beginning of the new year.
This initiative sparked a negative reaction from National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Education Minister Yoav Kisch, who stated that if funding is not allocated for security measures in educational institutions in the coming academic year, they will oppose the plan.
Ultra-Orthodox parties in the Knesset, which have left the governing coalition, are also opposing the budget changes.
