Hurricane Milton live updates: Monster storm slams into Florida; deaths confirmed

Hurricane Milton spawned more than a dozen tornadoes, many that touched down before the Category 3 storm even made landfall in Florida, Report informs via WPEC.

In St. Lucie County, authorities say there are multiple fatalities after a tornado outbreak in the area.

Sheriff Keith Pearson says the people killed were at the Spanish Lakes Country Club, a senior retirement community.

It was initially unclear how many people died or how many others had been hurt.

Search and rescue efforts were underway Wednesday night.

A tornado even damaged a garage that houses emergency vehicles for the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday night at least 19 tornadoes have been confirmed in Florida as Hurricane Milton approached the state.
