Heated exchange between Iran and Israel at UN Security Council meeting

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should not remain silent while facilities in Iran are under attack, Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Said Iravani, said during the UN Security Council session, Report informs via Reuters.

"Iran will continue to exercise its right to self-defense as long as Israeli aggression persists," he said.

He also expressed concern over reports that the United States might become involved in the conflict.

"Let’s be clear: Iran's nuclear program is peaceful and subject to the most extensive inspections by the IAEA in the world," Iravani added.

Following these remarks, Israel's UN representative Danny Danon addressed Iravani, stating that Iran cannot ask the international community to protect it.

"We will not stop until the nuclear threat from Iran is eliminated. Enough performances, enough theater," Danon said.
