Head of EC welcomes agreement on release of hostages by Hamas movement

The head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, has welcomed the deal to free hostages held by the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, reads a statement published on the EC website, Report informs referring to TASS.
She stressed that a pause in hostilities will allow the European Union to deliver more humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
“I wholeheartedly welcome the agreement reached on the release of the 50 hostages and on a pause in hostilities. The European Commission will do its utmost to use this pause for a humanitarian surge to Gaza,” she said.
