Only a complete cessation of the use of fossil fuels will allow humanity to reach the 1.5 C limit of global warming set in the Paris Climate Agreement, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said at the UN climate change conference COP28 held in Dubai, Report informs citing TASS.
"1.5 C climate benchmark is only realistic if we stop burning all fossil fuels. We will phase it out," he stressed.
He noted that the world community has the technologies to avoid the worst climate chaos: “But this requires immediate action, leadership, cooperation and political will.”
