The volume of the aid package for restoring the flood-affected German regions will amount to 10 billion euros, Report informs, citing Der Spiegel.
The amount will be allocated in half by the regions and federal authorities. If necessary, the assistance package can be increased.
In mid-July, heavy rains were falling in the west and south-west of Germany, which caused a devastating flood. Due to the showers, the tributaries of Rhine Ar and Moselle and the small rivers Sauer, Prum, Neem, Kiel, and Erft burst their banks. The total number of deaths in all settlements covered by the disaster exceeded 180 people. More than 750 people were injured.
