Germany's Helsing plans to begin production of combat drones

German defense startup Helsing is preparing to launch production of combat drones, Handelsblatt said, citing a confidential company document, according to Report.

“Following its acquisition of Grob, Helsing will be able to integrate hardware and software production and enter the market for unmanned aerial combat systems that could weigh several tons and carry bombs weighing several hundred kilograms,” the document says.

In June, Helsing — a company specializing in integrating artificial intelligence into weapons systems — announced an agreement to acquire ultralight aircraft manufacturer Grob Aircraft.

Earlier, the publication reported that the Bundeswehr aims to deploy long-range drones capable of striking targets deep behind enemy lines by 2029.
