Fidan: Türkiye is ideal place for Russia-Ukraine talks

Istanbul is the ideal place for negotiations on the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan said, while speaking with journalists accompanying him on the train from Poland to Ukraine, Report informs via TRT.

"We are now seeing a positive process in terms of the settlement. Considering all aspects, the parties need a place to sit down and negotiate. Of course, Türkiye is actually the ideal choice for this. As you know, the Russian side announced this (about the initiative to hold talks in Istanbul on June 2) immediately after my visit to Moscow. This is an important event at the moment," Fidan noted.

According to him, he has scheduled meetings with Ukrainian authorities, in particular with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which, they will discuss Türkiye's position and views on the situation of all parties, as well as the urgent need for a ceasefire.
