European Commission begins preparing reforms for new enlargement

The European Commission (EC) considers a new enlargement of the European Union (EU) to be a geopolitical necessity and is beginning to prepare the necessary reforms to EU policies and institutions, the EC President Ursula von der Leyen at a press conference in Brussels, Report informs via TASS.
"The new expansion of the European Union is not only the call of history, it is a geopolitical necessity. We must set a vision for our successful enlargement, which is why the European Commission has launched a pre-admission review of a range of EU policies to decide how our institutions, our budget, and our security guarantees will work [after EU enlargement]," von der Leyen said.
