EU keeps focus on minority rights in India

The European Union (EU) continues to remain committed to human rights, including the rights of national minorities, Paula Pinho, Chief Spokesperson of the European Commission, stated at a briefing, Report informs.

While responding to a question about the EU's concerns regarding minority rights in India, she highlighted that this also applies to India, with which the EU signed a number of cooperation documents today.

"The EU, as in all countries, closely monitors the human rights situation in India. We maintain engagement with the Indian authorities and civil society," Pinho noted.

The spokesperson added that the main platform for discussing such issues has been the EU–India Human Rights Dialogue.

She stated that the most recent meeting within this framework was held in January 2025, and the next one is planned for April–May this year.
