The President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, has reiterated the need to reset Brussels' trade relations, Report informs.
She shared this insight at a press conference following the EU-China summit in Beijing.
"The EU accounts for an impressive 14.5% of China's total exports. However, China's share of EU exports is only 8%. These figures show the scale of our relationship, but they also reveal a growing imbalance," von der Leyen said, adding that this is due to increasing trade distortions and barriers.
According to her, Europe "keeps its market open for Chinese goods," but also expects reciprocal steps from the Chinese side.
As for the war in Ukraine, von der Leyen believes that it has a direct and dangerous impact on European security.
