Estonian Foreign Ministry urges its citizens to refrain from traveling to Russia

The Estonian Foreign Ministry recommends completely avoiding travel to Russia, Report informs referring to the ERR portal.

"Recently, the Estonian Foreign Ministry and the Estonian Embassy in Moscow have received reports of several cases where Estonian citizens have come to the attention of Russian security forces. Estonian citizens temporarily in Russia are advised to carefully consider the need for their stay in the country," said Tiina Nirk, director general of the Consular Department of the country's Foreign Ministry.

The Foreign Ministry also recommends that citizens return to Estonia as soon as possible.

Nirk recalled that Estonia's only representative office in Russia is located in Moscow, and the number of diplomatic missions of other EU countries there has also been significantly reduced. Therefore, obtaining consular assistance if necessary may be extremely difficult and expensive.
