The two nations' opposing stances in various regions, particularly in some African countries and the South Caucasus, have sparked mutual accusations.

Türkiye's Minister of Education, Yusuf Tekin, recently announced that the activities of French schools in Türkiye would be declared illegal due to non-compliance with Turkish legislation.

In a tit-for-tat response, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs suspended admissions for Turkish citizens to the Charles de Gaulle and Pierre Lot high schools, which operate under the French embassy in Ankara.
