Croatian authorities have decided to suspend processing asylum applications from Syrian citizens until a unified decision is reached at the European Union level, said the country's Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic, Report informs via TASS.
He stated that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has instructed relevant services to temporarily suspend processing asylum applications from Syrian citizens. This process will continue until a decision is made at the European Union level.
"We all hope together that the situation in Syria will allow Syrians to return to their country, which is in the interest of, I would say, everyone," Bozinovic was quoted as saying by the Croatian Interior Ministry's press service.
Previously, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Cyprus announced the suspension of processing asylum applications from Syrians.
