Armed militants kill ten servicemen in southwest Niger

At least ten servicemen of the Nigerien armed forces died in a militant attack near the border with Burkina Faso, according to AFP, Report informs via TASS.
Nigerien troops were attacked by a group of gunmen on motorcylcles near the village of Petel Kole in the country’s southwest.
As a result, ten servicemen were killed and seven more were wounded. 26 militants were also killed in the clash.
Nigerien regions lying along the borders with Burkina Faso, Mali and Nigeria have seen a surge in extremist and terrorist crimes as of lately.
Servicemen and law enforcement officers are often a target, although attacks on civilians also take place from time to time.
