About 50 people a day are dying in the UK because of delays in Accident and Emergency (A&E), analysis used by senior doctors has found, Report informs via The Times.
NHS staff have warned of “dangerous” and “degrading” conditions as hospitals struggle to cope at the busiest time of year, with cold weather and flu set to prolong the crisis into next week.
Health chiefs voiced frustration at the annual cycle of chaos, blaming a lack of beds and staff for leaving the NHS unable to deal with an outbreak of flu.
More than a dozen hospitals have declared critical incidents in the past week because they are overwhelmed by demand, with many advising patients to seek care elsewhere.
