Uzbek MP: Turkic states should expand joint activities in climate action

Turkic states should expand their joint efforts in climate action, Bahrom Abdullayev, Chair of the Science, Education and Healthcare Committee of the Senate of Uzbekistan, Report informs.

Abdullayev made the statement during Heads of Committees on Health Issues of the TURKPA Member Parliaments themed "Climate Change and Health: Legislative Responses to the Health Impacts of Climate Change" held at Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis.

According to him, Uzbekistan proposes improving the climate change legislation of Turkic states:

"At the same time, we should support scientific research in this field and strive to increase awareness."

Abdullayev stated that Uzbekistan will work on reducing the effects of climate change and revitalizing the economy by 2030:

"Uzbekistan's main goals are increasing the minimum life expectancy to 78 years, reducing hereditary diseases in children, providing the population with healthy food, increasing green energy use up to 40 percent, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions."
