The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the European Parliament are seeking to interfere in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova said at the international parliamentary conference themed "Parliamentarism: Traditions and Perspectives" held in Baku, Report informs.
Gafarova highlighted that parliamentary traditions, developed over many years, have a significant influence on the current activities of parliaments:
"As an example of this tradition, we can mention the parliamentary experience of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic," she said.
The speaker expressed regret that some countries' parliaments are currently influenced by certain political forces:
"Organizations like PACE and the European Parliament are conducting slanderous work against Azerbaijan and trying to interfere in our country's internal affairs. The reason for this is Azerbaijan's liberation of its territories from occupation and pursuit of an independent policy," Gafarova added.
