Georgian premier meets visiting Azerbaijani Speaker

As part of her official visit to Georgia, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. As the Georgian bureau of Report informs, Irakli Garibashvili noted that they highly appreciate the development of strategic partnership relations and friendly ties between the countries.
According to him, the foundation for achieving the level of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia was laid by the great leaders of the two nations, Heydar Aliyev and Eduard Shevardnadze. Speaking about the importance of developing inter-parliamentary ties, Garibashvili noted that mutual visits of delegations further strengthen bilateral ties. He noted the importance of continuing joint projects implemented by the two countries.
Speaking about the importance of ties in the economic sphere, Sahiba Gafarova stressed that at present, numerous documents have been signed between Azerbaijan and Georgia, covering political, economic, trade, humanitarian, and other spheres. Gafarova noted with satisfaction that the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation is also working effectively, creating broad opportunities for further deepening ties in the economic sphere.
At the meeting, Sahiba Gafarova also spoke about the liberation of the ancestral lands by Azerbaijan from the Armenian occupation, which lasted 30 years, and the restoration of territorial integrity during the 44-day Patriotic War.
At the meeting, an exchange of views took place on other issues.
