The increase in diseases associated with climate change poses a particular danger to children and elderly people, Filiz Besim, the chairwoman of the Northern Cyprus parliament's healthcare committee, said at the second meeting of TURKPA member countries' parliamentary healthcare committee chairs in Baku, Report informs.
She noted that it is important within TURKPA to determine the steps that need to be taken regarding problems caused by climate change.
"Water and healthy nutrition are serious problems in Northern Cyprus. Considering this is a global problem, we believe that a solution must be found jointly. Food security is important. If the food we consume threatens our health, then this is already a serious problem," she added.
