Zakir Hasanov: Azerbaijani army modernized to level of leading countries

National leader Heydar Aliyev saw the future of Azerbaijan as an independent and sovereign state, Azerbaijan's Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov said in an interview with CBC TV channel, Report informs.

"The main institution of a sovereign state is its army, which ensures its security. From the first days of coming to power, our national leader resolved this issue," the minister said.

Zakir Hasanov noted that today the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev developed Heydar Aliyev's idea and modernized the army to the level of leading countries.
