‘Azerbaijan should use peace enforcement option’ - OPINION

"Azerbaijan is obliged to create a "buffer zone" to ensure the security of its borders and population," Elman Mammadov, a member of the defense, security, and anti-corruption committee of the Milli Majlis, told Report.

He proposed another option to eradicate the provocations of Armenia:

"Urgently, a border post of the Azerbaijani military should be established on the newly constructed alternative road to the Lachin corridor, and Azerbaijan should take control of that road. All the illegal groups should be "swept out" of Azerbaijan."

The deputy emphasized that the purpose of the Armenian provocations is to attract the attention of the forces supporting them and raise them against Azerbaijan:

"Azerbaijan protects the security of its territories and population. The provocations of the Armenians have not stopped until today, and they will not stop in the future. Azerbaijan should use the peace enforcement option. It should use its military power to silence the enemy and force it to beg for peace because we do not ask but dictate."
