A training on “The power of journalism in fighting fake news and disinformation” was organized for journalists in Baku.
Report informs that the training took place at the headquarters of the Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora.
Trainers Stefano Vaccara and Jordan Dakamseh, members of the UN Correspondents Association, shared their experiences with Azerbaijani journalists and talked about ways to combat disinformation and misinformation in an era of rapid technological development.
They also emphasized that neutrality in journalism is not the same as objectivity, stressing that objectivity is a pillar of journalism.
As part of the training, attention was also drawn to the importance of adding media literacy to the curriculum in schools to prevent fake news that spreads rapidly through social media platforms.
