Ahmad Ismayilov: New law "On Media" provides legal basis for benefits, privileges

"At present, the adoption of the new law `On Media’ is extremely actual and, we can confidently say that it has become a necessity. This law will create a legal basis for ample opportunities, benefits and privileges for professional media subjects and journalists, facilitate the transition of the country's media to a higher level of development," Executive Director of the Azerbaijani Media Development Agency Ahmad Ismayilov said in his article, entitled “Media reforms: Towards new targets”, Report informs.

“But we should not forget that media is a process, and in this process, media subjects and journalists are only producers of news and media products. Along with them, consumers of the media products - the audience, that is, readers of newspapers and websites, TV viewers, radio listeners, etc. participate in this process. When preparing the new bill, the Azerbaijani constitution, the country's legislative base, international legislation and other documents were taken into account," Ismayilov stressed.
