Ahmad Ismayilov: Azerbaijan’s media reforms over past five years aimed at safeguarding information environment

The main purpose of media reforms implemented over the past 5 years was to protect Azerbaijan's information environment and strengthen the potential of journalism, stated Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan (MEDIA), Report informs.

He made the remark at the forum titled "Media of the Future: Following the Footsteps of Akinchi," organized by MEDIA and Azerconnect Group.

According to Ismayilov, one of the contributions of media reforms is the state's support for the process of forming young people's interest in the media field:

"We can already talk about the initial results of media reforms. We can confidently emphasize that a serious qualitative change is manifesting itself in the work of our media.

In Azerbaijan, there is a fertile and favorable environment for young people to express themselves and realize their potential. Azerbaijan's talented youth will not spare their efforts to realize their knowledge and skills in the media field as well. The beneficiary of this process will be Azerbaijani media and our public opinion as a whole."

Ismayilov added that the challenges of the era and the demands of the time have changed: "Unlike our classical enlighteners, the Azerbaijani youth is now a citizen of an independent state. All necessary support is being provided by our state for the Azerbaijani youth, who achieved victory in the Patriotic War, to reach their goals."
