Participants of the international conference "Solving the Problem of Missing Persons: Supporting Families' Right to Know the Truth" have visited the city of Shusha, a historical and cultural symbol of Azerbaijan.

According to Report's correspondent dispatched to Shusha, the guests visited the city's central square, the house of Khurshidbanu Natavan, the "Khan gizi" spring, and the walls of Shusha fortress.

They were informed about the city's history, its condition during the occupation period, the construction work carried out under the supervision of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, as well as the restoration of historical monuments.

It was noted that during the 30 years of occupation, historical buildings, mosques, and monuments suffered due to Armenian vandalism. After the city's liberation, large-scale construction and restoration work began, aimed at returning Shusha to its historical appearance.

The guests also visited the site of a mass grave discovered on the territory of Shusha prison last year. It is reported that remains believed to belong to 31 people were found here. The remains show signs of torture and cruel treatment that these people were subjected to.
